Press release for St Dennis Parish Council meeting September 2008

  1. The Police crime report showed that there had been 4 reported crimes in August of which 1 had been detected.

  2. The meeting was attended by residents from Trerice who raised the issue of the County Council’s decision to change the route for the school bus to avoid Trerice which meant the children now had to walk to Trerice Manor Farm to pick up the bus. Residents explained that this was a long walk up a road with no pavements which would be even more dangerous as the mornings and evenings become darker and that the problem of parked vehicles in Trerice Terrace had been resolved. The Parish Council agreed to write to the County Council requesting that the school bus service through Trerice be reinstated.

  3. The Public Meeting organised by the County Council on the 17th September to discuss the Sita Planning Application was discussed and members of the public raised various points that they would like to see discussed at the meeting.

  4. County Councillor Higman reported that the Unitary Authority would not be withdrawing the Parish Council grant currently received from Restormel Borough Council in 2009/10 but that it would be phased out over the 3 years to 2011/12.

  5. The Parish Council continue to lobby for the provision of a car park at Domellick to allow easier access to the Goss Moor Trail and have also suggested that the footpath at Penrose Veor be extended onto the moor to provide pedestrian access from St Dennis to the Trail.

  6. The Parish Council has a vacancy on the Council due to the resignation of Lynn Sims and will be taking steps shortly, to advertise the vacancy.
