PARISH COUNCIL NEWS.
The Parish Council meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the ClayTAWC Centre.All meetings start at 7 p.m. and the public are very welcome to attend.There is a regular agenda item of 10 minutes duration when members of the public may speak and raise their particular concerns.
Notes from the Parish Council meeting held on the 10th November.
PC Humphries reported that there had been 11 reported crimes during the month of October of which 5 had been detected to date.During the month there had been several high visibility patrols in the village and also speeding checks were carried out in Robartes Road.
The Council meeting was attended by 11 young people from the village,accompanied by 2 adults, who were lobbying the Council for a skateboard park to be provided in the village.The young people presented their case very well and explained why it was wanted and what benefits it might bring.The Council was impressed by the presentation and agreed to look into the feasibility of the proposal and report back later in the year.
The Council has been successful in obtaining a grant of £2,000 from the Cornwall County Playing Fields Association and will be looking to use the grant for further improvements in the Playing Field.
The Council resolved that after considering a report from Groundwork (Southwest) that it is unable to proceed with a major recreational project on Trelavour Downs at this time.The main concerns were the high degree of uncertainty over the amount of funding that could be raised to finance the project and the likely annual running costs which would require a large increase in the Parish Council Tax.
Council received a financial report on its spending in the first six months of the year compared to its budget.
Council approved a grant of £200 to the recently formed St Dennis Keep Fit Group.
