1. Trelavour Downs Mining Operations.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Goonvean Ltd, Cornwall County Council and about 50 members of the public.
The public were very concerned about the re-commencement of mining operations on Trelavour Downs which overlooks the village using mineral planning permissions granted in the 1960s.
The Goonvean representatives summarised the situation to date and the County Council representative advised on the position regarding the Review of Mineral Permissions (ROMP) submission by the Company.
In a lively meeting the public asked many questions of the speakers and were extremely concerned that mining operations could be re-started after such a long period of time prior to the submission of the ROMP. It was agreed by the Council that when a planning application was submitted that a further meeting open to the public would be held.
