for St Dennis Parish Council meeting February 2007
NOTES FROM THE COUNCIL
MEETING DATED 13TH
FEBRUARY 2007.
- The Community Policeman reported that
there had been 15 reported crimes in January of which 5
had been detected and enquiries were continuing in other
cases.The majority of cases were of criminal damage and
related to a spate of stone throwing by young teenagers
some of whom had been spoken to.The Police Community
Support Officer would be resuming her duties in St Dennis
when her current training was completed.
- The Council received a presentation by
Karen Sawyer,Housing Renewals Manager at Restormel
Council on the range of grants,loans and other assistance
available for private sector rented property including
house renovation,repairs and conversions,empty
property,houses in multiple occupation and disabled
facilities.
- The main item raised by members of the
public was the recent flooding in Manson Place.The County
Council had attended but stated that the problem was that
the volume of water flow off the Downs was too great for
the drains to cope with and that there was no blockage in
the drains.Members were of the opinion that water running
off the new tip on Trelavour Downs was a major
contributor to the problem and a complaint and
photographs had been sent to the County Planning Officer.
- County Councillor Higman reported that the
average increase in Council Tax in 2007/08 would be 4.99%
and District Councillor Greenslade reported that the
average increase for District Council services would be 4.4%.
- A new seat has been placed in the Cemetery
in memory of the former sexton Raymond Johnson.
- The sundial at Trelavour Prazey has been
removed for refurbishment.
- Temporary patching has been undertaken in
Fore Street and Kellow Road by the Highway Authority and
permanent patching would be undertaken in the new
financial year.
