Press release for St Dennis Parish Council meeting December 2007

The Parish Council meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the ClayTAWC Centre. All meetings start at 7 p.m. and the public are very welcome to attend. There is a regular agenda item of 10 minutes duration when members of the public may speak and raise their particular concerns.

Notes from the Parish Council meetings held on 28th November and 11th December.

  1. PCSO Fisher reported that there had been 1 reported crime during November which had been detected.PCSO Fisher also reported on the proposed football coaching scheme to be run by PC Dingle for youngsters from the village aged 9-15 years.This follows the coaching recently provided for children up to 9 years old. The Parish Council are very supportive of this initiative and approved a donation of £150 towards the costs.

  2. The Council received a DVD presentation by Celine Elliott on the proposed YP2 project for Trelavour Downs. Ms Elliott reported that funding for the provision for some form of recreation space for young people and others was accessible and that preliminary discussions had been held with young people to ascertain their views. Ms Elliott hopes to establish a project group to consider the matter further in January.

  3. The Council agreed that a fence should be erected on its land in Hendra Prazey to minimise the danger posed by the leat to young children

  4. Reports from the Planning Committees held on the 10th and 24th November on local planning applications and the Council’s annual review of its contract with Landscapes Southwest Ltd were considered and approved.

  5. Council received a report from Councillor Mrs Ellacott,representing the Parish Magazine Group, on the progress made and the success of the first two editions.

  6. County Councillor Higman reported that there was a funding deficit of £4 million in the preliminary 2008/09 County budget but that sufficient savings could be found to balance it.

  7. The Parish Council agreed its budget for 2008/09 and approved a precept of £30,550 on Restormel Borough Council. The increased precept takes account of inflation,safety works at Hendra Prazey,remedial work in the Garden of Rest in the Cemetery and eases the effect of the likely loss in 2009/10 of the grant paid by Restormel Borough Council for concurrent functions.
